HPW User Profile: Sharmine Narwani

After witnessing a couple of abusive comments by Huffington Post blogger Sharmine Narwani, I thought I would take a look through her comments and see what fell out. Here are some particularly insightful gems from her before we get to the overall list:

"One could even argue that Jewish disinformation against Muslim populations is a major contributor to growing Islamophobia and fear of Muslims in the West.""

"Ben, you are an irresponsible, slandering, propagandist of gargantuan proportions...."

"I believe the only long-term solution is a one-state solution."

"Hezbollah and Hamas are resistance groups..."

"These are dignity rockets.”

"Far be it for me to even guess at what it must be like to live in a modern day concentration camp, a ghetto, with rations, beatings, murders and the like.”

Sharmine Narwani has 60 posts, at least those that haven't been deleted.

Deporting the "Son of Hamas": A Betrayal of American Values

“You must have mistaken me for the actress/Hamas "expert."”

Deporting the "Son of Hamas": A Betrayal of American Values

“Amazing...the lemmings on this comment board."

The Hezbo(ti)lla

"Ben, you are an irresponsible, slandering, propagandist of gargantuan proportions....
You and your lying cronies who will do anything to support Israel - no matter what it does - are opportunistically trying to set the stage for an Israeli attack on the Mariam...
Your deliberate disinformation campaign can put lives at risk. You and the AJC should be ashamed for targeting innocent civilians. You do know what the international community calls those who do that, right?”

Helen Thomas & the Gaza Flotilla

"I understand the emotional desire for this state to "be" among many well-meaning people, but let's call an apple an apple. Helen Thomas raised an important point though she did not have an opportunity to expound. Why are the settlers prior to 1948 any different than those who settled after 1967?
As Israel shows its stripes, I think these questions need to be addressed. Sixty plus years after this ethno-nationalist experiment, you have a highly militarized, internationally-derided state that could not possibly thrive without the US crutch. If the US balks and the Israeli right-wing keep going from strength to strength as global pressures against them rise, we could potentially have a Masada-type situation - with 200 nukes thrown into the picture to keep us guessing.
I realize this is sensitive stuff, but it needs to be said. Let's take off the blinders and be brutally honest for a change.
I believe the only long-term solution is a one-state solution - Jews, Muslims, Christians living under one law as equals in the whole of Israel and occupied Palestine. It has been done before.”"

"Between 2000 and 2008, Israel broke every single ceasefire with Hamas that lasted more than 9 days. The Mideast is chock full of myths. Palestinians in Gaza have every right to retaliate when attacked, and they are frequently and brutally assaulted by Israeli firepower - let alone the daily deprivations that accompany the siege.
These are dignity rockets.

Barney Frank: 'As A Jew' I'm 'Ashamed' Over Treatment Of Some Palestinians [UPDATED]

"As we are on the subject, however, I would remind you that many who make a comparison between Zionism and Nazism happen to be Jews. From Holocaust survivors who arrived at war's end to Palestine and commented on the parallels with the fledgling Zionist movement with their Deir Yassins, Sterns and Irguns,,, to prominent anti-Zionist Jews like political scientist Norman Finkelstein and British Member of Parliament Gerald Kaufman.
Whether you find these accounts and comparisons credible or not is besides the point. I am merely pointing out that it was often Jews, since the end of World War II, that drew these parallels.
And I don't think it is wise to tell Palestinians what to think or how to say it. Far be it for me to even guess at what it must be like to live in a modern day concentration camp, a ghetto, with rations, beatings, murders and the like.”

Barney Frank: 'As A Jew' I'm 'Ashamed' Over Treatment Of Some Palestinians [UPDATED]

"Maronites also teamed up with Israel to commit a 3-day massacre of Palestinian refugees in Sabra and Shatila. " [Revisionist history.]

Barney Frank: 'As A Jew' I'm 'Ashamed' Over Treatment Of Some Palestinians [UPDATED]

Hezbollah and Hamas are resistance groups....Occupation is an ugly business and as long as Israel continues its illegal occupation in violation of countless UN resolutions, populations will rightfully defend what is theirs. Please do not forget that Israel is the occupier and the Palestinians are the occupied. The occupier is the aggressor by definition.
You can spin your drivel for all you're worth - it doesn't make an orange an apple.”

“Really? They should have wiped out the entire ship? Killing 600+ civilians who wanted to end the illegal and universally condemned blockade of Gaza, a modern day concentration camp for 1.5 million Palestinians?
Solution - I think you should change your name to "Final Solution." It would be more fitting.”

"No, this is not a battle between two equal sides, where we weigh up the injustices, grievances and dead for an artificial comparison. The Occupied, under international law, have every right to fight occupation to regain their territory. This is what is called "Resistance" - something we glorify and romanticize in our own wars - but strangely, not in the Middle East where the Occupier gets to inflict "disproportionate" harm on the Occupied every day for "defensive" purposes."

“Debate without defamation is critical on contentious issues. The HuffPost offers us all a place to engage intelligently with others who may oppose our own views. It is important that we safeguard this unique environment." [Very ironic.]

Israel, through its aggressive promotion of "Hasbara" or propaganda, lacks a great deal of credibiltiy these days. Though they are pooh-poohing the Goldstone report as insignificant, this is what is going on behind the sceneshttp://www.counterpunch.org/cook07212009.html
[Note the link.]

“While I do agree that so many of our leaders are "intent on twisting, distorting and ignoring the truth," I wonder at your statement that the Jewish people are the greatest victims of disinformation. Certainly today, one could even argue that Jewish disinformation against Muslim populations is a major contributor to growing Islamophobia and fear of Muslims in the West."

  1. Clearly Narwani is an anti-Semite of the first order, and in the pay of the Gulf backed de-legitimization campaign. What troubles me most is her close access to opinion makers and high sources.

Unlike AIPAC which is an American lobbying group and is open and above board - there is a vast network of NGO's and individuals operating on behest of the Arab interests and funded with Arab money. These connections need to be exposed and challenged.

  2. They won't be. I have respect for Sharmine Narwani. She says openly what other anti-Zios think but don't have the guts to say.

That Israel needs to be destroyed and another Arab state (the "one state solution") put in its place. The rest of them simply pretend if Israel is nice to those who hate it, peace is around the corner waiting to happen.

Narwani tears that fig leaf completely to shreds. She's as extreme an anti-Zio as we've seen on the HP and I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of her on there.
