The Case Against Palestinian Nationalism

[NOTE: The following is a *satire.* S-A-T-I-R-E. If you don't know what that means, read here. That being said, although these are not my views, all the facts contained within the piece are true to the best of my knowledge.]

Palestinian nationalism is racism.

It is a perverted ideology that belongs on the 18th century, just like all forms of ethnic nationalism.

Nations built around one ethnicity or religion is a throwback to the colonial era of exploitation and dispossession of indigenous peoples. And the Palestinians have made it very clear that their nation will be one for Palestinian Arabs and Palestinian Arabs alone. It will not be a state for everyone who lives there. Don't take my word for it, ask them:
Article 1 of the Palestinian National Charter: "Palestine is the homeland of the Arab Palestinian people; it is an indivisible part of the greater Arab homeland, and the Palestinian people are an integral part of the Arab nation."
See that? The Arab people. Anyone who lives in Palestine but is not an Arab would not be included in this Palestinian state. Shouldn't Palestine be a state for all it's citizens? Clearly, it won't be! In fact, not only is Palestinian nationalism racism, but the very Palestinian identity is based on race! Check out Article 4:
"The Palestinian identity is a genuine, essential, and inherent characteristic; it is transmitted from fathers to children. The Zionist occupation and the dispersal of the Palestinian Arab people, through the disasters which befell them, do not make them lose their Palestinian identity and their membership in the Palestinian community, nor do they negate them."
Goodness gracious me. It looks like the Palestinians are an ethnicity within the larger Arab nation. Anyone not born into that nation is excluded. How can any people of conscience or morality endorse a nationalism that is based around ethnicity and racism in this way? A Palestinian state, by it's very nature, will oppress and exclude everyone who does not fit the narrow definition of "Palestinian Arab." That is, if the Palestinians let them in at all.

The Palestinians are unique among the world to demand the creation of a state for them to the exclusion of all other people. Though one cannot know for certain what will happen in the future, the Palestinian Authority has already begun passing racist laws excluding Jews from buying land in the West Bank and Gaza. Why should we as clear-thinking, modern individuals support the creation of a state that will so obviously be built upon racism.

If you continue to think that a Palestinian state should be created, let me remind you that such a state would be built upon the blood, bodies and tears of untold innocent people. The PLO, an organization dedicated to the creation of a Palestinian state, is responsible for the deaths of thousands (if not tens of thousands) of people in Lebanon, Jordan, and elsewhere across the Middle East. Compared to what the PLO did to their fellow Arabs the innumerable terrorist attacks inflicted on Israel were child's play. A Palestinian state, built as it is on terror and murder, would have no right to exist in freedom and prosperity. All individuals of conscience will no doubt join with me in standing against Palestinian nationalism and the racism that it embodies.

At this point, some of you might be asking, "What should we do with the Palestinians who are currently stateless?" And it's true, they cannot be kept in refugee camps forever. But they are clearly foreign occupiers and colonialists, and a Palestinian state would simply be a visible symbol of that racist imperialism. Therefore, the solution is simple: Send the Palestinians back where they came from. They are Arabs, as they themselves admit, so they must be moved (by force, if necessary) to the Arabian Peninsula, the land from which the Arab conquests began. If they wish to hold onto their Palestinian identity (and all the racist exclusivity that it implies) then that is their business.

If Saudi Arabia, Yemen and the other Arab nations won't take them, then they will simply have to be dispersed around the Arab nations. I would like to dismantle all of the 20+ Arab nations, as they are nations built around ethnicity and are therefore racist states too, but that isn't very feasible right now. Therefore, we must prevent the Palestinians from forming yet another racist state and instead resettle them to the best of our ability. Anything less would mean endorsing racism and colonialism, and that in my mind is not acceptable. All righteous thinking individuals must agree with me on this, or they are immoral bigots.

Palestinian nationalism is racism. I intend to go to the United Nations right now and demand they pass a resolution stating this.

  1. It may be satire but it contains an element of truth: the Palestinians DO want to set up an ethnocentric state.

Now get this: guess who gets accused of being an ethnocentric state? That's right - Israel!

But that is a point lost on the hate Israel crowd, who decry Israeli racism but see nothing wrong with a pure Palestinian Arab state.
