My Letter to Alan Dershowitz

Dear Mr. Dershowitz,

I am writing to inform you about an article on the Huffington Post written by Professor Jerome Slater, in which he attempts to deny Israel's right to self-defense as exercised in Cast Lead.

In short, he claims that since "all" Palestinian "resistance" is against Israel's occupation and "repression," Israel doesn't have a right to defend itself except by capitulating and giving the Palestinians whatever they want. Needless to say, he bends the legal system to the breaking point.

I know that as a legal scholar you are much better equipped to form a coherent response than I am, and as a Huffington Post blogger it will actually be published. This is perfect example of the law being mercilessly twisted to suit an agenda, and is the most blatant instance that I have yet seen. I hope that you will consider writing a response to Mr. Slater.

Sincerely,
Zach

Update: I received a terse "email it to me" response from Professor Dershowitz. Hopefully this means he is considering writing a response.
