HuffPoWatch: Barak: Peace With Palestinians or Apartheid

Defense Minister Ehud Barak released a statement the other day that if peace with the Palestinians doesn't eventually come, the only alternative is a binational state or apartheid. On July 26, 1973, a UN draft resolution affirmed the rights of the Palestinians and established provisions for Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories as embodied in previous General Assembly resolutions, but the American Government killed this international effort to end Israel’s occupation of Palestinian lands.

It was 'civilized' men who carved up the Holy Land vis-à-vis the UN Partition Plan in 1947, and over 700,000 indigenous Palestinians became refugees- who are still denied their inalienable human right to return home-because they are the wrong religion. And this is at the root of much of the misery in the Middle East and fuels the 'demon' of Anti-Semitism.

Because of ignorance, misplaced guilt for the Jewish Holocaust and a fear of being called an Anti-Semite; Israel has been allowed to defy international law and deny equal human rights to the indigenous people.

Aided and abetted by USA and European economic, diplomatic and political support all have colluded to treat Palestinian citizens with institutionalized discrimination.

And the Goldstone Report didn't tell us anything new...

Palestinians have no choice but to fight 'til the end to get 1947 Palestine back to the Palestinians. There is no room for compromise, and any compromise deal will fail for being unjust against the Palestinians.

Yes that's a nice cover, but those Israeli Arabs are discriminated against in many ways, since they are assigned specific neighborhoods and can't live just anywhere. Their infrastructure is poorly funded as is health care and education for Arab-Israelis. In addition they are discriminated against in the workplace and when seeking employment . They are also discriminated against in the legal system, sometimes getting harsher treatment by police and receiving more severe penalties and sentences.

Also, they cannot join the army (with the exception of the Druze who are not Muslim).

In the recent elections, there was an attempt to have Arab parties banned from the elections.

it's an apartheid state, for no other reason than it has, for the large majority of its existence, has exercised a brutal, evil and shameful occupation of the West Bank and Gaza portions of Palestine, stripping the people in those areas of their rights.

Astonishment. Use the word apartheid on these threads and one will immediately be accused of anti semitism. Guess the word is not a pejorative anymore as it was in the South African instance. Will the word "ghetto" be soon seen in polite diplomatic parlance?

Apartheid is what Israel always wanted in the first place.

Apartheid is what the Anglo-Dutch imperial monetary system always wanted; to keep Southwest Asia backwards and never having enough peace to develop the region and it's society.

Divide-and-Conquer is the preferred tactic of empire and Psykes-Pikot is what the British has kept in place to this day.

Get peoples and nations to focus on ther ethnic, religious and tribal differences and sell them weapons to fight and kill and each other in perpetual conflict.
